Barhale is one of the largest privately-owned civil engineering companies in the UK. With over 35 years’ experience across the water, transport, built environment and energy sectors.
They used internal resource to build a system for HR and people management. But found that they had limited resource for ongoing support and maintenance. SAS Apps has been able to provide them with a pay-as-you-go service. We are available when they actually need support. As a result, they can limit their spend on development services.
Like many others, Barhale developed its application over-time. And so had become heavily reliant upon it to run the business.
It was not a practical option to have their own development team. In the long run this meant they had a dependence on a single developer. This resulted in inadequate support and maintenance for a mission critical system.
Barhale was in desperate need of a skilled development partner. Firstly, to lift the weight from an overloaded IT team. And secondly, to offer a service that would give the rest of the business confidence in the software.
Our first step was an audit of the application to understand the software. As a result, we could document the architecture and review the security controls within the application.
We then produced a list of ideas to consider for the future. In addition, we had the opportunity to become familiar with the technology.
We proposed a flexible support and maintenance agreement that provides an SLA, to ensure a timely response if an issue comes up. Barhale can now rely on us to provide the support and development services that they need, on demand.
SAS Apps also complete development work as and when Barhale need a new feature. This allows them to accommodate changes and improvements to their processes. They can grow and develop as an organisation without being tied to a legacy application.
